There was a conversation that was recoded on video, but you can’t see it, because it got deleted; however I will have an Q & A with myself when I run out of things that I can remember from this interview.
Preston Wittwer is an Assistant Editor and Podcast Producer and for a podcast produced by “The Philanthropy Journal” called “The Nonprofit Experience.” Preston graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) getting a BA in Communications and MA in English.
From the lost Q & A session I remember asking these questions and getting these answers: (so if these are not his actual responses, you can blame me)
Q: How did you think you can get better at editing podcasting?
A: By having more opportunities, getting more involved in the podcasting community, watching more how to videos, and search for other resources.
Q: How do you think people should promote their podcast?
A: “Word of Mouth is the best way.” I heard from another podcast that grow the best podcast are the shows that are organic. Buying Instagram ads and paid advertisement doesn’t really work like you think. If you look at the podcast that get the most views they don’t promote anything.
If your show is not giving someone a reason to talk about it then you need to figure out what you need to do to get people to talk about it.
Q: Where do you see the future of podcasts?
A: Well, that’s a hard question to answer because it can go in one or two ways. It can either rise to the top or fall down, but to answer your question it’s going to be a good one in my opinion.
Q: How do you feel about cooperate podcasts?
A: I don’t really have a particular feeling towards cooperate podcast, but it was interesting when Conan O’Brien made the comment saying that, the rise of podcast was because of him.
Q: How do you feel when you make a good or bad episode?
A: When I make a good episode it’s the best feeling in the world it’s amazing. But when I make a bad episode I feel terrible, it’s one of the worst feelings. Even though I’m the only one editing the episode, it has an affect on everybody because they are a part of the process.
Q: Do you have anything that you need to promote?
A: “Listen to our latest episode of “The Nonprofit Experience”
Latest episodes of “The Nonprofit Experience“
This is all I can remember now I will have a Q&A with myself about podcasting.
DZN Q and A with Dre
Q: What inspired you to do your podcast?
A: Well, I was a really avid podcast listener, and I noticed that a lot of people weren’t talking about what me and my friends wanted to talk about. So I told my friends (Zo and Naz) that we were going to start a podcast called the DZN Podcast.
Q: What’s can push your podcast to the next level?
A: Consistency. If we were able to do podcast more we could actually get and develop our brand to be the best that we can be as individuals ourselves. But our goal is to develop our own platform making our own network and expanding it to a whole new level.
Q: What is one more thing that you need to grow your podcast?
A: Money. Money can get us more and better equipment, ad dollars, chances to create extra content, and a lot of other stuff too, but we need more money. If you’re listening to this right now donate, like, share, and comment. It’s good for us and good for y’all.
Q: What’s the funnest part about doing your podcast?
A: It’s like a therapy session. It’s very cool to us that we can talk about anything we want in a room on audio that we can release as our own content. And that we actually have a platform where we can do and talk about anything we want at any day, anytime, any episode is great for us. Some may times may be funny or some maybe wrong in other people’s eyes, but that’s what we like to do on the DZN Podcast.
Q: What else do you need to do as a podcaster?
A: “Just keep doing podcast, just keep doing it.” “Honestly, that’s the only way I can explain it, just keep doing it, keep going and always do stuff that can actually improve you as a person, and individual that actually does release content.”
Q: What can you do to better your brand?
A: Keep putting out content and get more money that we can use to set up our own platforms and develop and create merchandise for us and sell to the people that really enjoy what we do. And passing keep passing it out money and opportunities to make us more of a force in the podcasting industry.
Because “there is no other podcast like us, and I don’t think there ever will be.”
